FUNERALS. MR. J. L. RUDD

The funeral of Mr. James Leslie Rudd, of The Rock, took place yesterday afternoon, leaving the Church of England at 3 o'clock for The Rock cemetery, where the burial took place in the Church of England division. The cortege was the largest yet seen at The Rock, including, representatives from all the surrounding district, and from Wagga, Lockhart, Henty, Yerong, Corowa, and Melbrulong.

At the church a short service was conducted by the Rev. H. Reiss, who spoke feelingly of the excellent qualities of the deceased, and his useful citizenship. The school children carried the wreaths from the church, forming a guard of honor. The bearers at the church were Messrs. C. Condon, W. H. Kendall, G. Taylor, A. C. Ferrier, L. A. Webb, and A .C. Bedggood, all members of The Rock Masonic Lodge.

At the cemetery the bearers were Messrs. Arthur, Harley, Norman, and Alex Rudd (brothers), and Clive and J. K. King (brothers-in-law). The pall-bearers were Messrs. G. C. Woods (representing the stock and station agents), B. L. Boyd (The Rock, Race Club), C. Adcock (The Rock, Progress Association), P. W. Milne (Urban Area Committee), P. J. Blackwood (The Rock Football Club), E. M. Gainen (The Rock Cricket Club), H. Scott. (Church council), and W. Snare (Parents and Citizens' Association).

The chief, mourners, in addition to the relatives mentioned, were the widow and 11 children, the deceased's father and mother; and Mrs. J. King (mother-in-law), Messrs. Thomas and Roy Rudd (brothers), Colin and Roy King, and Neil Stewart (brothers-in-law), Mrs. Barker, of Corowa, and Mrs. Stewart, of North Wagga (sisters), Messrs. H. B. Norman, of Wagga, W. Ball, of The Rock,. P.,, A. J., and R. Campbell (uncles), Mesdames H. B. Norman, Comans, and P. Campbell (aunts), Mesdames A. A. Rudd, Alex Rudd, Norman Rudd, and R. King (sisters- in-law).

Messrs. G. Rudd, of Gippsland (brother), and W. King, of Sydney (brother-in-law) were unable to be present. The Rev. H. Reiss conducted the service at the graveside. The Masons held a lodge of sorrow at the temple, carried floral tributes to the graveside, and conducted the Masonic burial service. The funeral arrangements were carried out by Mr. W. H. Magrath, of The Rock.
